Rule 3 - Infrastructure, Software, and Humans
Who am I to assert this
Short version
Using software and systems to solve problems and build real things. Twenty five years worth of growing startups from ideas to consequences. If you're building past next week, you need to build well!
Longer Story
I’ve done a number of software (and software-adjacent) startups, with an emphasis on infrastructure and “plumbing”. One aspect of this is that I can use my decades of experience to “boost” a startup with only a handful of programmers to a higher level of development sophistication earlier than they might otherwise reach organically - disciplines like release engineering and traceability give you a big head start on debugging the problems that you usually don’t encounter until your product hits actual customers. A big part of this from the developer-team side is storytelling, especially about things that have previously gone well, or about things that are obviously true once you hear them but noone has yet pointed them out you.
